Good news !

Yesterday at 7PM the hospital of Cần Giuộc called us to ask us to come as soon as possible to entrust us “our” 1st baby, born yesterday in the street …

One person saw the mother giving birth in the street, she offered to take her to the hospital for safety and hygiene while the mother said she would give up the child.

This morning, all our female staff: Liên, Tham, Thao and Lan went to fetch the infant of 3,100kg and fill the administrative formalities in the presence of the vice-president of the Popular Committee, the civil status officer of the Ministry of Labor and social affairs, the president of ‘farmers’ association (?), an officer of justice, a police officer and the chief of the hamlet of  Phước Thuận.

The baby then joined our orphanage…

His Vietnamese name will be chosen on the 30th day of his life, in the waiting we gave him the name “Marc” (since born on April 25th), this name will be the one used at home. This way of doing things makes it possible to put a distance with the outside environment, which can be hostile. In the tradition, this double denomination serves to deceive the bad spirits who could, by passing there, carry away the still fragile child by hearing his beautiful first name.

The celebration of the first month of the child is a very important tradition in Vietnam, I will tell you … We are waiting for the next days 2 other children …

Good day, Marc (very happy)
